Motivational interviewing (MI) is a proven approach for facilitating behavior change, yet many diabetes care and education specialists face challenges implementing it effectively into practice. This interactive session explores the foundational principles of MI while providing hands-on experience through case-based learning and peer feedback. Participants will examine practical strategies for incorporating MI into diabetes care, focusing on person-centered communication techniques that drive meaningful outcomes. Through guided practice and collaborative problem-solving, attendees will develop a customized MI toolkit designed to overcome common implementation barriers and will gain confidence in applying MI techniques to support sustainable behavior change in people with diabetes.
