Choosing an insulin pump is an important decision for a person living with diabetes. The DCES can use their knowledge to help pair the patient with the pump that fits not just their insulin needs, but their physical capabilities as well. This session describes how, during support visits, the DCES learns challenges specific to each pump brand to both educate and support the patient with its use, as well as identify adaptive devices to aid the patient in successful use of the technology.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Identify pump specific challenges when considering a patient's physical capabilities.
Identify adaptive products for insulin pump use to promote patient success.
Identify solutions for patients struggling with successful pump utilization.
