Growing legalization and interest in cannabis for health conditions have led to its increased use among individuals with diabetes. Aspects of the endocannabinoid system may have an impact on pathophysiologic parameters leading to the development of T2D. Regarding the reduction of diabetes risk, studies reveal that cannabis consumption has either an inverse relationship or none with body mass index, obesity, metabolic syndrome, or the development of diabetes. This poster discusses current research for the prevention and treatment of diabetes with medical cannabis so clinicians can answer patients' questions and concerns.
