(P409) Urinary Caffeine Metabolites and HbA1c: A Case-Control Study Using NHANES 2009–2014

Despite the widespread consumption of caffeine in the U.S., little is known about the relationship between caffeine metabolism and glucose metabolism, as well as diabetes risk. This gap in the literature prompted an investigation into the association between urinary caffeine metabolites and HbA1c levels. This poster reviews a study that employs a case-control design, analyzing NHANES data from 2009 to 2014, focusing on non-pregnant adults aged 20 and older. Participants were categorized into three groups by HbA1c levels, and urinary caffeine metabolites were assessed using logistic regression. This poster presents insights into the relationship between caffeine metabolism and HbA1c, as well as how sociodemographic and lifestyle factors were accounted for in the analysis.
