This poster reviews how the twiist AID system utilizes basal modulation to adjust the amount of insulin delivered to optimize glucose levels. The maximal basal rate can be set as high as 30 units/hour and is typically set as a multiple of the greatest programmed basal rate. This ratio is typically set between 2 and 6.4. Limiting the max basal rate too conservatively may hinder the algorithm’s ability to deliver adequate insulin quickly during hyperglycemic episodes. In this study, increasing the allowable maximum basal modulation was associated with improved TIR.
