(P315) Implementing Perioperative Glycemic Measures: Our Journey at Houston Methodist

Pre-operative elective surgery patients with hyperglycemia have increased risks of infection, re-admission, and mortality. Improving glycemic management in the perioperative period reduces such risks. We identified variations in pre-operative and peri-operative care delivery in people with diabetes and sought to standardize care while reducing risks. This poster conveys our journey of implementing the Houston Methodist Perioperative Glycemic Measures by standardizing care delivery and reducing risks for postoperative infection, re-admission, and mortality for people with diabetes or those at risk.
