(P318) Improving School Nurses' Competencies Through Focused Certification: Concept Proposal

Optimizing care for students with diabetes in schools is critically important. Meeting glycemic targets improves classroom attendance, allowing students to focus on their educational responsibilities, improving social skills, and, if applicable, extracurricular activity development. Furthermore, creating a solid foundation in achieving and meeting glycemic targets also establishes a pattern of desirable behaviors for students' future, long-term health, and well-being. School nurses play a fundamental role in the care of students with diabetes. The poster author discusses how offering a unique and tailored certificate for school nurses that recognizes their unique role, responsibilities, and practice environment is a worthwhile endeavor.
