As I prepared for retirement, I discovered a passion for warm glass as a creative outlet. Warm glass, also known as kiln-formed glass, is a technique in which glass is heated in a kiln to achieve various artistic effects.
The possibilities in working with glass are limited only by imagination and the chosen technique. One common approach is fusing, where multiple pieces of glass are heated until they meld together, forming a single, bonded piece.
One of my greatest challenges in working with glass has been my Essential Tremor—an uncontrollable shaking of my hands when performing action-oriented tasks such as scoring and cutting glass into desired shapes. To overcome this, I’ve learned to accommodate my condition while embracing the idea that perfection isn’t always necessary in art.
Today, I explore color and form with unfiltered imagination, creating a diverse range of kiln-formed glass pieces. This artistic journey has become a source of joy, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the process of creation.
I hope my work brings you joy as well.
